Lt R R W Ashby was awarded the DSC for his action on 19th December 1941 Lieutenant-Commander Gerard Horace Gandy, Lt Alexander Kennedy, L/S Coxswain William Schillemore, Leading Stoker P.O. Ronald J.C. Priestley, PO John William Prest, and A/PO Stoker Buddy Hide, with Telegraphist Tom Greenwood Duckworth (Posthumous) were Mentioned in Dispatches for their actions on 19th December 1941 in
Kowloon Harbour. 31 members arrived in Glasgow on Friday 22nd May.
Sub Lt Tommy Brewer came back via a different route, and was killed in a motor
accident on the A1 on 28th July 1942 during the blackout at the start of his leave. He is
buried in Gillingham,
Kent.
By an amazing coincidence Lt Kennedy's wife came in on the same tide,
after escaping from Hong Kong on the last liner to leave, he went West, she East via
Australia.
